This is a introduction program designed to get you shooting your first arrows as quickly as possible. Essentially to have fun as quickly as possible with an understanding of the most basic Safety Aspects that should be observed practicing the sport of Archery.
From the SANAA web site: “Essentially the Give-it-a-Go program is the first step in the process of introducing people to archery. The courses can be as short as 2 hours such as in a school or camp environment or as involved as a 3 to 6 week course which is usually conducted by clubs.”
This is the next step for the Novice Archer from the “Give-it-a-Go” program.
This is a fantastic program that provides a structured advancement for Novices. Milestones reached in terms of knowledge, ability and progress is awarded with pins ordered through SANAA. This is in line with a lot of archery awards and pins that can be obtained to celebrate levels of proficiency in general for the sport of Archery. This program requires you to be a club member and an affiliate SANAA member. The affiliate SANAA member fees are very affordable so definitely worth the effort.
Please do not rush to buy equipment initially. This could be a costly mistake as a lot of the recreational equipment being available in all kinds of stores will not be suitable.
Some equipment, especially camouflage coloured/painted equipment is expressily forbidden in some disciplines in the sport of Archery.
The Club has all of the equipment necessary to give you a thorough introduction into the sport of Archery without costly outlays from you the Archer.
Safety is of paramount importance, therefore topic gets rather a lot of emphasis during the first introduction. This, not surprisingly, can take up a lot of talk time 🙂
It is for this reason that the very first active session should be arranged for a Saturday Afternoon. This will provide for ample fun shooting time after the talk time 🙂
This session will therefore NOT be during the week days.
Please contact the Club Secretary in this regard.
Having said all of the above, please feel free to pop in during the weekday official practice times to observe the archers honing their skills and saying “Hi”.
